This is a small room ionic air purifier. The height of the unit is about 17". If you are looking for a high power air purifier, this is not for you. This unit is a slow air moving air purifier and comply with OSHA Ozone requirement. Manufacturer specification is for 1000 square feet. However, I use this in my home and found it is best to use this in small room to be effective. Cig smoke smell can be reduced but by no way it can eliminate completely the odor. If you blow a puff of smoke at the unit, it does not seems to draw the air in right away. However, when I am having allergy and leave this on over night in my bedroom, it definitely help and reduce the allergy symptoms in the morning. There is a carbon grid in the unit. I carry replacement at each. It is used to cut down the odor in the room. It is not necessary to change that. I personally change mine at about 6-12 months interval. As for UV light for bacteria killing, it is inside the top cover of the unit. Does it work well? All I can say is when I am sick or having allergy attack and leave it on overnight, it alleviate my symptoms. The fan has 2 speeds. It makes a low humming noise.
